COLORADO RIVER
LAKE MEAD: Striper fishing is fair to good on cut anchovies near the tire reef at Lake Mead Marina, the 33 Hole, Anchor Island, and the back in Las Vegas Wash. Good striper action was also reported from the Hemenway Wall at Boulder Beach, and fish were hitting live shad in Overton Arm. Most fish are averaging from 1-0 to 2-0, but fish to 6-0 have been landed. Catfish action has been good near Lake Mead Marina by the tire reef. Largemouth bass action has been fair at Fish Island and the Muddy River. There have been scattered catches of bluegill on night crawlers near Echo Bay. WILLOW BEACH: A few limits of trout continue to show on orange Power Bait, Kastmasters, or night crawlers. There will be a trout plant on Friday. Stripers to 2-8 are showing on cut anchovies, but no big fish have been landed. For more information, contact the marina at (928) 767-4747.
Cottonwood Cove (fishing has been wide-open with many boat anglers getting 100 fish each. Most fish are a pound or under, but fish to 5-0 have been landed. Best action has been from just below Cottonwood Cove to four miles north of the Cove. Best bait has been cut anchovies, but squid chunks and night crawlers are also taking lots of fish. Largemouth action has been fair with fish holding to weed-lines, off of points, or at the mouths of coves. Top baits have been plastics or Senkos. Most fish are averaging 1-0 to 2-8, and fish to 4-0 have been landed. Lots of big carp to 25-0 have been landed all over the lake on bread or dough baits. BELOW DAVIS DAM: Striper fishing has been fair to good on fish averaging 1-0 on cut anchovies. Best action has been early in the morning or in the evening. During the day fish retreat to the deeper holes on the river. A few catfish to 3-0 are showing on stink baits or night crawlers.
HAVASU: Striper fishing is fair to good with fish holding in 30 to 60 feet of water. Best action is on cut anchovies. Most fish are averaging 1-0 to 2-8, but fish to 11-0 have been landed. Largemouth bass are fair to good in 15 feet of water on drop-shotted plastics, pig and jigs, or spinnerbaits. Catfish have gone on the bite and fair to good action has been reported on mackerel, cut anchovies, chicken livers, or hot dogs. Panfish are scattered around the lake and people have been taking fish to 1-8 on mealworms, red worms or night crawler pieces. For more information, call Black Meadow Landing at (760) 663-3811.
PARKER STRIP: Slow to fair catfish action at night on cut baits or stink baits. Small stripers showing early in the morning or late in the afternoon on cut anchovies. For information, call Big Bend Marina at (760) 663-3755.
PALO VERDE: Striper fishing is fair on fish from 1-0 to 5-0 on Rat-L-Traps or cut anchovies. Most anglers are landing 10 to 20 fish each. Largemouth bass action is fair and improving on plastics. Catfish are slow to fair in the main river and local backwaters.
