I will second that. It would be nice to see a great american reel builder building great spinning reels in the US again.

The Conquer appears to be made elsewhere but the Torque gives Penn the ability to compete With VS and ZB potentially.

Might be a good time to start letting the wife and kids know that Christmas is coming. Wonder if it will be offered manual pickup?

Wow. Almost the same specs as the Zeebaas 27 with a faster gear ratio

The 19.9-ounce size 5 reel has a 5.9:1 gear ratio and 38-pound maximum drag.

That is a lot of drag power. 5.9:1 Is pretty impressive. I am a bit hesitant to jump on the first run of reels. Have to wait and see what the reviews are.

Maybe the tackle evaluation team could get their hands on a couple?

I called Penn and left a message asking for info on the reel, as well as an overview of the testing performed. Will post when received.

I don't fish reels hard enough to be a good tester. Hell, it took me an entire 4 months of fishing to destroy my ZeeBaaS.

Lol That was sarcasm by the way. I should give you my Baitrunner to fish a while It would surely blow up being used as a flotation device and Rock bumper. I may get out tonight. I will definitely be out for the 718 719

Looks like these guys at PENN are trying to get back in the game.....

I'm pretty sure one of you will get a tester soon..... I'll be the first one in line when these come out.

When Penn discontinued the 704Z and 706 reels in 06 they said they were working on a newer version of it. Never materialized. I guess this is their answer at a fat price of 700 bucks.
