Default Understanding Big Bass Behavior

For anyone involved with last week's bite at the Big Ditch, congrats! Boy were we lucky to have been able to take part in that-hopefully it'll happen again sometime over the next couple weeks.

Obviously it is inherently difficult to predict the movements of large striped bass. However I do think it's possible to at least get a general sense of where to begin one's search for big striped bass.

Some very nice reports from some excellent anglers fishing Buzzards Bay certainly helped a few of us striper addicts get a sense that those fish may soon move through the Canal, which they most definitely decided to do throughout last week.

So far the bass in my neck of the woods are once again falling into the same general patterns of the past few seasons. The big push of fish through the Cape Cod Canal last week, will hopefully be followed by another big push sometime during the next week or so.

Anyone interested in reading up on some observations made over the past few seasons about large striped bass in the Cape Cod Bay area, can do so by visiting the link below.

Large striped bass adopt specific behavioral patterns depending on the season. Understanding bass behavior in Cape Cod Bay can help an angler in establishing a smart starting point.

Tight lines and go get 'em!

Captain Ryan,
Another great article thank you for the excellent read! Having a group of fellow fisherman that are in contact with each other when you’re on the hunt for the striped beauties is so key to being successful on regular biases. We both can probably count the amount of days last year when we experienced those monumental days when you could throw out a soda can tied to a line and reel a fish back in. I missed the last weeks Wednesday all out blitz in the canal only if someone could have predicted that!
When I can't locate the stripers relatively quickly I turn to bottom fishing. Try to get the krill limit when doing some strategic drift fishing which usually proves to be well worth it. My goal is to come home with fish and after I have achieved this I will then go looking again for the striped bass. Putting all my efforts into just one species has proved to me time after time that I am doing something wrong. Fish on!!!

Hey great response Mgonski! Thanks for the compliment.

Hope you are able to find the bite more times than not this upcoming season. Tight lines and catch em up!
