Default Fishing in NJ for the week beginning Friday March 31 2006

Spring has sprung

Since things seem be be busting open and participation is up it's time to go back to the weekly format.

What, how, boat or beach and when is great but please don't be too specific naming the spots, Bayshore, Hook, NoMon, SoMon, NoOcean, SoOcean......... is plenty.

Bayshore = Parkway Bridge to Atlantic Highlands
Hook = Sandy Hook
NoMon = SeaBright to Asbury Park
SoMon = Bradley Beach to Manasquan
NoOcean = Point Pleasant to Seaside
IBSP = Island Beach State Park
SoOcean = Toms River to Forked River
For river or back bay fish just use one of the above terms and follow with "in the back"

Default Raritan Bay

Suds, what do you call the Jersey side of the Raritan Bay? Do you group that in to No Mo?

Demetrios,
Yes, I would call the shoreline of Raritan Bay NoMoCo, from Keyport all the way around the inside to the tip of the Hook. I saw most of it on Friday, I was working in the area prior to spending the evening fishing up there NoMoCo has a LOT of shoreline if you include the bayfront + the beachfront, I wonder how many miles that is? It's gotta be a bunch.....and we're lucky to have it.

Which is where I was last night. Third trip this year and finally scored. 3 bass in the 30" range on chunks but I had to bust my butt and cover a lot of ground before I found em.

Got out for the ebbing tide yesterday at the Hook. Fished from high tide till about half hour after low when I had to pack it in and head back North. Didn't catch anything but got one hit while my brother and I were throwing a baseball around. The hit came on a chunk. I also tossed some clam and a plug.

Suds, thanks for that. Perhaps sometime we can fish/hike together. Congrats on the nice fish.
