First time on this board. Glad I found it. Leaving from Va tonite to Long Isl / Jones Inlet to Ocean fish stripers. Bunker pods reported. I want to snag some. Any suggestions on the rig to use to snag them and also what do I use to live line them? Thanks and a big Howdy to all.
Hunting in the winter and fishing in the summer....is there anything else?

Hi Tailfeathers. welcome to the board.

You can use a weighted treble to sang the pogies.

Use a 8/0 or bigger circle hook through the nose.
Use steel leaders if the blues are around.
You can also cut a gouge from behind the head to the dorsal fin
that mimics a bite off.

Hey Tailfeathers welcome.gif To snag bunker I like to use an unweighted 3/0 treble attached to about 3 ft of flouro then a barrel swivel and above that, an appropriate egg sinker.

Just to touch on what Jim said, if you should happen to get a bite off, quickly drop that sucker back down. If there are Blues and Stripers on that pod, more than likely the stripers are sitting below waiting for scraps.
