Hey all,

I have permission from the boss (aka wifey) to head out during the first week of November. Can anyone let me know how November looks during a typical year? Any suggestions on places i might surf cast?

Many, many thanks!

Gee anywhere from Cape May to Perth Amboy.
The whole Jersey coast will be in the middle of the fall run. Hopefully the fish will be in the surf zone.

Took my girls down to the water before school got started so they could stay till dark and do a little fishing, I set them up with clam bits on high/lows, hoping for the odd stray croaker, fluke, skates, sea robin, anything that would pull on the line, to my surpise they both hooked stripers, 18 & 23-24", while dad only got 1 short fluke. Have a look:

My older daughter caught the smaller fish, and refused to touch it, my younger one caught the larger one and couldn't wait to ham it up for the camera....and then was surprised that a fish that big wasn't a keeper, she wanted to eat it.

Without spotburning too badly, I have a confirmed report of fish breaking (probably blues)on the beaches of central Monmouth County. I can't be there because I coach my daughter's soccer team and if I don't show up for her first practice I'll have to deal with 18 angry soccer Moms, and that is scarier than any bluefish.

Just a short report.
My first real attempt to target stripers for the fall this past Sat night, ran up to the Hook and got there right before dark fell, lotsa clouds (almost full moon....blehh), and after an hour of throwing all the wood in my bag, the blurple bomber did it's thing and found me a nice fat, healthy 26-27" striper, good enough to put a bend in the rod and a smile on my face. THEN, I reverted to total googanism, let the fish get wrapped up in my teaser and leader, rear treble stuck in the fish, finally got free of that mess and the fish batted sand in my eye, and finally, I could put the fish back in the water. Next cast, whoof!, bomber flies off mid cast and is never seen again....must have twisted it half out of the clip while messing with the fish. Called it quits around 11:00, and hit it again early a.m., one small fluke before calling it quits for good.
Can't wait to go chase stripers again, tomorrow.
