I would say, fish the bends curves and where a set of gates are before and after the gates and use lures like the L-Rattle Trap the pearl one at Wal-mart or a Bass Pro Shop and if you have a two pole license try chicken liver with night crawlers or by them self. Anchovies you could try too but they normaly go after them mostly in the winter months. The Stripers love the shad in there so try shad if you go to bob's bait bucket. I haven't seen many bait fish in the duct here so just use any lure that resembles trout, shad, blue gill, and mackeral. Use the size two bait hooks go up the line about 12 inches and use a crimp on weight about an oz or equals too an oz. If your near the gates there should be lights around but if not it is hard to use lures cause you can't see much. Good luck and rod tips up and tight lines.

Question Re: Aqueduct Information

Hello to all,
I am new member name is Missouri just like the state me and my husband John go fishing all the time, we have caught some stripers but not big enough to keep, I caught a nice 4 lb catfish in June threw it back. We usually fish at the Patterson Aquaduect but lately the gates have been closed and the water level is real low, does anyone know why and what's going on.

mradford, welcome aboard.

its a total mess out there with the water situation.
from what i gathered, they are shutting down the deltas.
this is where the aquaduct water is coming from.

this also means no more stripers.
they are digging a 4mile tunnel underneath silverwood to feed water to the south.

Hello Missouri,
The news has reported that the tunnel was completed, they might be doing another repair some where and like Dodoman said it has been bad here too but after several months looking better. They do lower the water also to kill the algea and weeds off the sides and the bottom. Sometimes it is blue stoned to kill the weeds and stuff in the aqueduct. I have a link I will send to you about the water. they are only allowing 30% of water through the aqueduct and next year they are only allowing 20%. Is Patterson up North? I have lived next to the aqueuduct for over 30 years now and they will be opening the gates for only a short time be need to go more often to see when they do in your area. Sorry for the bad news but it will get better over time.

Thanks for the info can't wait to get the link to read more about why the patterson gates and the water being low. Yes Patterson is up north off the I-5 next to Sacramento. Wow I hate to hear that we sure loved going there to fish.

man thats horsesh*t i dont understand why they cant just leave fishing alone and deal with other matters in the world that are far more important. closeing the deltas? are they freaking insane! well theres nothing really else i personaly can do about it so thats all for now.
CATCH EM WHILE
WE STILL GOT EM
good luck to all and dont let the system get you down it wll al work out for the best i guess
