New World Record Striped Bass
A potential world record striped bass was caught Thursday night off the coast of Connecticut on a live eel. Apparently the guy who caught it, Gary Myerson, had a panic attack from people hounding him about the fish and wound up in the ER while the fish was put in a cooler on ice according to Field and Stream magazine. The fish was weighed at Jack's Shoreline in Westbrook, Connecticut and tipped the scales at an astounding 81.88 lbs.
"This morning, Striper Cup angler Greg Myerson weighed in a striped bass that registered 81.88 pounds on the scale at Jack’s Shoreline in Westbrook, Connecticut – almost 12 hours after it had been landed Thursday evening aboard a boat in Long Island Sound. If the fish had been properly documented, it could have been eligible for the world record. However, at the moment Myerson has decided to take the fish home [and] not pursue record certification."
