My opinion, for what it's worth, is that Fall fishing is a pale imitation of Spring fishing, I've only been fishing 4 years or so but the Springs produce far larger fish for me, from the beach. BUT, I can usually catch lot's of fish in the Fall, just not many big ones. But I can usually catch a FEW, so far I still have no keepers this Fall.
Caught 20 fish this weekend tho, so that was good, but I would have traded them for 2 keepers.
As far as your question, I am counting on the fact that the Fall run is just beginning in earnest....it may be here and gone in a flash, but I expect the schools to show soon.

Ed, it was only a few years ago that it was the complete opposite. Smaller fish in the spring and you expected to catch the big girls in the fall - Thanksgiving day gave up a 50 three years in a row.

Personally I'm thinking we're about done. If (and I say IF) the herring come in there maybe a very short burst of better sized fish in early December but it's more then likely time to break out the lighter gear and catch the dinks that'll be here until the water drops below 35 degrees in Feb.

We're still gettin 'em in RI,It's been warm here and the fish seem to be sticking around. A friend fished this weekend and brought in 2 30#+ and a few more 20#+,still getting an awful lot of bjg blues too.
