Default Jigs from the beach??

I am having post fishing trip remorse. I am wishing I tried using Jigs from the surf. It could not have been any worse than my bait performance.

When I lived on the Pacific we used Jigs almost exlusively for Sand Bass, will striper fall for a jig?

Absolutely - never leave home without em.

1/2 oz up to ? depending on the conditions. Just enough weight to get it to swim and hop along the bottom without digging in too much. The size of the trailer you use will help control the rate of descent.

Makes a great teaser delivery system as well.

I'm new to striper fishing...but I'm definately hooked. I hear that bucktails can be very effective, but I don't know the best way to use them. I fish from the beaches of the north shore of Long Island (Suffolk County). I read that a white bucktail with red pork rind works best. Do you reel slowly, bumping across the bottom or do you keep it up near the surface? Any info would be appreciated.
