For all you guys that dock your boats at Forever Young.... DO you have problems with theft? What about when the river gets high do you have problems with debris hitting your boat? I was going to dock it down there this year for convenience but I was talked out of it. What do you guys think?

You're gonna have problems with debris anywhere until late April. As far as theft goes everyone says never any problems. My boat I there with all my rods and tackle. Hope it's the when I get back.

Hey everyone Just want to say that i won't use the Corning boat launch for the simple fact that the crew team is a pain. Had bad words years ago with one of the coaches and never went back. Now i hear they have taken more ground. I am asking for everyone to write the mayor office and complain about this situation. We paid for the launch and it is PUBLIC so why let them take it away from us.

Com on people LET'S WRITE.

I launched here tonight for a shakedown run and scouting trip. Good news is, boat ran great. Bad news is, the gates/fences are going to be up all Spring. I talked to a couple of the guys in there and they said that DOT runs it all, and they are doing bridge work (on the pilings).

The only way it's going to work if people allow whoever is launching a ton of space and patience because there is barely enough room to turn around without any other trucks/boats/trailers in the way. While they have some docks out in the main part of the river, there are no docks at the bottom of the ramp, yet.

I'm going to find out more about the issues and try to narrow down who we should complain too. Parking is definitely going to be an issue as most of the truck/trailer spots are off limits now.

Camera's batteries were dead, I'll snap some next week when I head out to fish!!!

The launch is is owned by DOT, and managed by New York State Parks. I'm sure if DOT needs to do any bridge work, they can close it off however they see fit.

I'm wondering if they worked a deal with the crew/rowing folks to continue to use the space until DOT needs to start their work. That being said, why can't that same deal be made for boaters using the launch and trailer parking areas? I also wonder when they're actually going to start demo there.

Off to Florida for 5 days to go after snapper, sea trout, and hopefully some reds/snook. Is it sad that I'm already looking forward to catching the first striper of the year when I get back? Good luck.

It doesn't look to me that the fenced in area is for construction activities. A bunch of rowing scull racks have been built that are spread through the entire fenced-in area. I would doubt that if DOT were working on the bridge supports that they would have waited anytime past yesterday to get started. There is always construction going on there, this is different. The schools that run the rowing programs got the upper hand, striper fishermen be damned.

I launch there a lot, April to October. I am sure that by summer the place will be deserted as usual. Stinky Hudson River, let's go to the Adirondacks. Meanwhile.....
