Is there any private marinas or launches that you can pay to launch for the day in the Albany area? I really don't feel like dealing withe craziness and will pay to avoid it. Please post or pm me with any advice. Thanks

Not in Albany. Nearest would be down in Coeymans, but there is a public launch there too. Is the Federal lock open yet? There are launches in Troy and Waterford with maybe 10 parking places each. About a mile above the lock. And then you are right there at the dam.

I totally disagree with any hillbilly justice, just makes us look like the a******'s that we are. Plus there would be hell to pay and the place would probably be totally shut down, except for the rowers.
I launched yesterday and it wasn't bad early in the morning(7:00) although it was a cold day. By them time I left at 4:00 pm there was a handful of trailers and maybe 9 cars parked in the trailer only parking. River was dirty as expected...lots of catfish but not much else.

Sat morning wasn't bad either, but I have a feeling it's going to be a different ball game in a couple weeks....

One thing we have to do, is get the City of Albany Police to start writing tickets for vehicles without trailers in the trailer only parking spots (what few are left).

Nice story but 100 rowers and 50 fisherman ???? Really ?? I think its more like 150 Fisherman and 50 rowers when you consider the vehicles.

OK guys i got to confess that was me in part of that interview. The part about taxpayers getting screwed. Piss poor story in my opinion. I think we should petition to have the row clubs moved out of there.

Word of caution about Rensselaer boat launch. The police over there are vicious. They will ticket you for parking on the grass and they check reg's. for parked trailors. Got a ticket for un regestered trailor one year. Also hope you have 4 wheel drive because at low tide you will be on the gravel bed trying to pull your boat out. Good luck.

I agree on the Rensselaer boat launch...most of the time it is alright but a really low tide can be sketchy and it will go all the way down from ramp to gravel to mud/silt which will likely get anything with out 4wd stuck. I don't have 4wd and I've had to wait for the tide to come back up before I can get out. It also is a little rough to load up in a really strong current since it isn't sheltered like the albany launch is. Just trying to help out since it will take every launch there is this year to find a place to put in.

that tv interview was the day I was down there at lunch time, I parked next to the white truck in the back ground when they were arguing back and forth in the cage. LOL the edited me out, probably becasue the open long tube headers on the car were a lil loud under the bridge. hahaha

glad to see some word is getting out.

How many people can park in the Renn launch? I went over there the other day and it looked liek there was no more than 8 parking spots.
