Need the experts opinion on what rigs to fish at night in shallow water < 10 ft, also do you keep the eels on bottom or suspended. Does chunking use similar rigs, bottom or suspended.
Thanks

I'm no expert by any means but I have used the high/low rigs and the slapshot rigs work equally well for me. You can let your eel sink to the bottom but you run the risk of the eel getting the rig caught in the rocks. I would keep him about a foot or so off the bottom.

Good luck!

Best rig for fishing eels is just a leader with a 5/0 hook. Hook him up through the bottom jaw and out an eye. Cast out and retrieve very slowly. The eel will naturally swim to the bottom, but you want to keep him moving so that he doesn't go into hiding and/or ball up on your line.

For fishing cut bait, use a fish finder rig with a circle hook on the bottom

hard to fish on shore with eels if you can keep them drifting like in a boat very effective
deffinitely keep off the bottom they dive for the rocks and crap. spawning stripers hate eels they eat there fry so stripers go out of there way to eat em. you can balloon a rig in a creek day or night and work the creek let line out wheel in slow like these other guys are saying keep eel off bottom and boom especially at night fish on! also take small glow stick an put in ballon now you can see your balloon when it dissapears ... fish on! best of luck to all you guys!
