Bill Emslie of the Dutchess County Federated Sportsmen reported that last weekend's striper contest, yearly the biggest and most important on the river, yielded at disappointing 34 fish weighed in on Saturday and only 18 on a miserable Sunday. The biggest were 45 and 40 pounds
not a single striper between 23 and 40 pounds was registered. That represents a couple year-classes of fish.

Although we can also report that those year classes, particularly from 20 to 25 pounds, are showing with abundance in the Albany area.
