Default Lefty conventional?

I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me out with a recommendation on a lefty conventional reel. I would really like to go with the abu c3, but alas, it does not come in lefty, nor do many of the other abu reels. I'm looking for something with levelwind. Has anyone tried the quantum cabo or the abu record? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the replies, as far as its use I'd have to say a little of both, but this would mainly be for a canal rod, so I'd have to say that capacity would need to be decent. Not to say that I'm not open to suggestions.

for a canal rod, don't go less than the 6500 size. The 7000 is a good size for the canal.

this has always confused the hell out of me. a "right" handed spinning reel cranks from the left side....therefore a right handed conventional should too...right? wrong...some A-hole figured it would be cool to screw with everyones mind and lead everyone to believe a "right" handed conventional should crank on the same side as a "left" handed spinning.
there is no rational explaination for this. i understand the argument between right and left for a spinning reel...so why is it opposite for a conventional?

if your left handed...i assume you crank a spinning reel from the right...so why the hell are you interested in a conventional that cranks from the left? just wondering.

I am actually right handed, I just have better rod control when I'm reeling with my left hand. With the 7001i I noticed that it's a one bearing reel. Does anyone have any experience with the quality of this reel, or maybe have this with a ceramic upgrade?

that makes perfect sense to me now. i have an abu 7000...i upgraded to ceramic as well as carbon drag washers...mine is a few yeas old and the factory drag was crap. i think the new ones come with the updated drag washers though, so you shouldnt need to upgrade those.. a good choice for the canal...its where i use mine when i take it out to play.

I agree it's sorta nutty.
My spin & fly are all left hand.

All my conventionals are "right" hand.
And I'm happy that way.

I use Penn 321GTi leftys. They have held up well. They are a level wind as well.

All the abu garcia's that end in 1 are lefty. I use the 5501 C 3. I'm so used to reeling spinning reels on the left that I wanted to keep it consistent when I stepped up to a conventional reel. I understand why you want a lefty

Wrong....some are made in china and some are made in Europe (Norway I think) The reels produced in Europe are much higher quality...
