Default Quick question, wondering if my rod may be a bit too beefy

Right now I'm using a 12 ft Daiwa beefstick and I was wondering if it could possibly be a bit too much for stripers in the surf due to it being Heavy power. I mostly throw plugs and never really mess with bait. I know most people use Medium Heavy rod's and I was thinking maybe my Heavy might be a too much. Am I thinking correctly or am I just worrying way too much and my Heavy power beefstick will be just dandy?

Kind of a overly basic question but I'm OCD person and I like to make sure I'm not messing anything up, hahahaha.

Thanks in advance.

If you are seen chucking bait or snagging and dropping bunker with that stick then fine. You'd be better served with a ten or eleven foot lami - st croix - or even some less expensve alternatives out there. You will find throwing plugs and such much easier and more efficient.

The advertised weight rating for that rod is 1 to 10 oz. I find it hard to believe that a rod that will handle 10oz will also cast a 1oz lure worth a damn.

I'd be looking for something in the 10 - 11 foot range with a narrower weight rating closer to what you actually tend to throw.
