Fishing Gloves
Hi all,
I'm looking for gloves that I can use for handling stripers and cutting the clams for bait.
I want something thats thin and won't hold smell.
I ask this because I realized that I don't want to be driving my new car with clam scent all over my hands.
Thanks.

I think your hands is your best bet. Buy some of those liquid hand sanitizers so when you're finshed for the day, rinse out your stinky hands in the water and just put some on your hands. This is what I do and all that fishy smell goes away. By the way, welcome aboard. :soap:

A rag and a good rinse in saltwater will do the trick!

I found some very good Atlas gloves here. 4 bucks each. As well as grundens and other very good quality marine stuff. decent prices. and no tax. Anutha alternative is keep a lemon and rinse your hands with it when done or just use surgical gloves and peel em off.

use cheap neoprenes
Buy the cheapest pair of neoprenes u can find, I bought "hot shots" brand for 4 bucks. They have rubber on the palm which is durable and grips the fish well--cuts down on the cuts. Neoprene is good since it's waterproof so it doesn't really absorb the goo. Just rinse and wipe it off after you're done fishing. Those lindy "fish handling gloves" on the cabelas link are nice strictly for handling the fish. Also, teh disposable latex glove idea for cuttting bait sounds good if you don't like the mess.

I second the hand sanitizer idea. It's amazing how easily it removes the stink. I keep some in my truck.

Yup, and you can get a big bottle of the Wal-Mart brand for around a dollar and works just as great as the ones that come in the pocket size containers for $4.00.

I carry these in my truck at all times:

Stick a few in a ziplock when I go on a boat.
They're the only things I've ever found that remove bunker stank :eew: :wtg:
