Doc or anyone else that fishes the block island area, can anyone shed an light on some advice for someone who has never been there, looking to fish the block for the first time. Wouldn’t mind booking a trip there this summer and fishing during the night a couple trips..

The Southwest ledge is the place to be....literally a few miles southwest of block island. Do not go there without a good boat and proper electronics because just like that it can go from 2 foot to 10 foot seas.......the Marine Forecast is NEVER right. If you want a good charter for bass there check out the Bacon Brothers @ BiggamefishingRI.com and tell them I sent you.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
We had a successful trip with the legend Capt Bruce Millar of the Otter tales. We trolled for bass and ended up with 5 from 37-46 inches.

Nice doc, on artificials too! Is that just a long otter strip on a circle hook in your photo? It looks deceptively simple, deff something i'd like to give a go from a jetty some time.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
This past weekend was good although there was a limited time where the drift was decent. Plenty of big fish moved in and they were hungry. We ended up with 12 Striper from 40-50 inches and my buddy got a whopper 60lb 53 inch fish of a life time. We are going back tomorrow to fish for 5 straight days.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
We spent 5 straight days on the water and despite a shorted out trim switch which shorted out the trim motor and ignition, a failed oil transfer pump and bad weather that blew through (10-15' seas) we managed to fish and ended up with 8 Striper as well as dozens of Mackerel and some Sea Bass. We will be going out for Shark this weekend. Sat night into Sunday was the calmest it has been out there all year....esp compared to 2 nights before.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
This past weekend produced some monsters again and it will only get better. We got out Thursday due to the pending storm which was forecasted (and did) to bring 10-15 foot seas. The seas were 6-8 when we left Sat. We ended up with 30 total for Team Knot On Call.
