Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
We smoked em again today with 30 in Poughkeepsie and 20 in Newburgh. Most of the Poughkeepsie fish were in the 30-39 in range and the Newburgh ones were 18-30in. Incoming and slack tide were best up north but died on ebb tide in the am but were again good on the ebb tide into slack in the pm. Lots of spawning just south of the Poughkeepsie bridge tonight. The rain sucked but could have been worse and it was not windy. Water temp was 57. I had several good runs on the eel but could not hook em. We also bounced and eel on the floor in 66 FOW after seeing a bunch of cows and had several runs but no hookups. Overall a great day.

Fished newburgh in the rain saturday. Boated 35. Two 38 inch 25 pounders and an 18 pound male. Marked the biggest school I have ever seen south of dennings point in the morning.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
Finally got something over 26" this year lol. Fished south of Poughkeepsie bridge from 3:30 to 7:30 in a cold heavy mist. For the first 3 hours not a bite. Then in the last hour and an half, landed 6 fish including 35" and 32"...not trophies but fun as hell. All were males and my rainsuit was covered in jizz ....you can see it dripping from them in the pix. The pic of my boot just shows the start of it at the end of the day I looked like a porn star.
Fun day even with the shitty weather......all revived and released of course.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
Another great day on the river with 27 fish boated between the Poughkeepsie bridge and Marlboro up to 35 1/2 inches. The bigger fish have definitely settled this are to spawn. There were several spawning females today in the channel. We worked a bit harder than usual to find pods of larger fish. I did see a kayaker undef the PB catch a 43 in 38lb male....he cam up to us and asked him to take a pic and later let us know the weight when he went to a shop to weigh it. Water temps today were 57 to 58 degrees. Back out in a few hours.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
Got out Sat and Sun. Weather really bits ... was hoping it would just be the fish.
Landed a lot of fish in the low 20's just off the point in Beacon. One 28 on Sat. On Sunday I got one in the low 30s up to the boat and lost it when I reached across for the net. I've been having a heck of a time getting decent sized bloods this year. So I started adding chunks of salted clam to the hook. That's what I hit the 30 on.
At about 5PM on Sunday (dead low) I took my last 4 (tiny) bloods and started heading toward home. Stopped just south of the NB bridge, right on the east side of the channel. Came into a massive school in a feeding frenzy. Caught 4 in less than 5 min (always when you're out of bait or need to leave...)

I’ve only fished chunk bottom or 1 crank off bottom, but recently hear guys hooking up suspended. Ever get any 14-18’ suspended?

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
Great fish guys! No runs Sunday, and tried scapping almost 2 hours today in Highland & nothing. Only 1 herring on Sunday. It's been slow for everyone, talked to DEC and they said they talked to a few guys that only had 1 herring each, another guy had 6 that took him an hour to scap. Others in Highland have just been using live white perch & chunk without any luck. Going to get up early tmrw while the tide is higher and see if I can get some.

Re: 2018 STRIPER REPORTs
The fishing is busting wide open and on fire. We ended up with 42 today...36 just north of the Poughkeepsie bridge by Marist and 6 in Newburgh. Up north was nonstop fish today and is was a chinese fire drill but we had to run to Newburgh to grab bait from a friend so we fished there mid day and ended up with 6 until the wind kicked. The bite was still good but not nearly as good as up north. The Poughkeepsie fish were 25-38 in and the Newburgh fish were 20-30in. My buddy who stayed north ended up with 100 for the day including a 48 in slob that took 55 min to bring in and dragged him 2 miles up the river. The evening bite just south of the bridge was great too......over deeper water....deeper than 55 ft. We did not see any spawning as the day before which is good. The fish were way more aggressive at the water temps are climbing.......60 for Newburgh and 58 for Poughkeepsie. Work tomorrow then 13 straight days on the river.
