Schoolies back in the Mac.....
Got to the boat a little after 5 PM, wind was S/E @ around 10 Knots, water temp was 52, high tide was at 5:40 in Newbury port....
I motored up river to one of my spring spots, third cast ended a long winter... fresh run schoolies are back in the Merrimack river... these little guys averaged about 20" in length, they were a little fussy and bumped the offering, I found that if I stopped reeling and dropped back the bait, I could get them to take.. I caught most of them on 3" Pearl colored storm shads, I also got about a dozen on the long wand using clousers .. the bite lasted until sunset before they moved on....

Now you got me all excited. Time to get in the water.
I heard they were catching them as far up river as the Lawrence dam, but dismissed it as rumor figuring it was to early. I guess it could be more than a rumor.
