We'll be out in newburgh this weekend for our first trips this year. Haven't seen many reports of anyone catching yet, which is strange... usually by now you'd see reports from south of us coming in...

Caught 20 stripers today from boat in Croton. All on bloods, large amounts of herring were seen on FF. Fish ranged from 12" to 22" outgoing tide.

was out in newburgh today on a shakedown after a lower-unit overhaul...for the 1st time fishing wasn't my #1 priority.

It felt like i had the entire river to myself...could the reason for lack-of-reports is lack-of-fishermen?

kids thrashing around the streams with their nets is a pretty good sign that herring are present.

Fished newburgh today from the bridge to the wappingers creek.... tried to stay between 20-30 feet of water. Went 9 for about 15. All about 5-6lbs on bloodworms fished down 10'. Couldn't jig any herring, but had one good run on a fresh herring head.

Out again this morning, not even a bite. Saw one guy with a ~20" fish on his stringer and heard another boat catch another one that he yelled was about 15". Read 50 deg to 54 deg (shallow) on the fish finder.
