Locating Fish Using Electronics
I enjoyed guiding 3 anglers this trip; Travis Tedrow 'the brew master', Ellicott Walthall 'the young lawyer', and Chris Whitley 'the ladies man'. We left Sandy Point State Park promptly at 7AM. A swift current of 0.8 knots was crossing this bar from 06:00AM until 08:00AM. Using my GPS allowed me to stay on a ledge between 14' and 28'. My sonar lit up showing fish stacked up from 28' to 18'. Ellicott and Travis were landing some nice stripers and bluefish on sinking fly line and 3" clouser flies while Chris used a 2 ounce butterfly jig. The catching went on for the next 15 minutes before the fish moved off the bar.

Our next stop was other side of the Bay. Between 7:45AM and 10:30AM the crew caught 7 nice bluefish and 80 stripers. My sonar screen went blank as the fish moved on. We then ran south where the sonar lit up with some large stripers that ranged between 18" to 26".

To end the day we traveled north and located some more hungry stripers and bluefish.
