UAW strike hits close to home..
well, today was like everyother day, untill i got to work. yesturdays bulletin from gm to dealers was the potential strike to have minimal effect on dealers as there are large numbers of vehicles already in the shipment pipeline..which are transported by independant carriers, not the uaw union workers. however, this morning i arrived to find no parts in my delivery area and an added message on the website bulletin board. all the parts distribution warehouse workers are part of the uaw union..they walked out yesturday afternoon...yup...getting parts for cars in the shop and for over the counter customers is at a stand still...this has been a bad day of endless complaining and chasing around to get cars fixed and back on the road...funny how it seems to be the end of the world when somone has to wait more than a day for a new cup holder for thier buick...i anticipate the pressure from the suffering customers and the gm dealers should help this retarded insanity stop..its day one and im already sick of the bitching...people seem to think that i make thier part in the back room or something....my ears are almost bleeding from the whine..maybe tomorrow ill bring in crackers...THANKS A LOT GM..AND THE UNION LEADERS..YOU PRICKS MAKE TWICE WHAT I DO TO SWEEP THE FLOOR AND YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE ACTUAL VEHICLE OWNERS...
ok..im done bitchin now....

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
i understand unions can be good..however thay can be bad too...i also blame gm for being stupid as well...the person sweeping the floor at the parts plant making double what i do never puts up with the vehicle owners crap like the dealer does, i also understand the union dictates if the individuals work or not, so its not the workers fault entireley either..its such a load of bullshite..passing the blame back and fourth is about all that can be done..the company wants to make cuts during hard times..the workers want more stuff during hard times........grantid..dealerships chose to be dealerships, and we are the customer contact, however we depend on the factories support..right now weve been thrown to the dogs holding no food other than whats in our pockets...i can hardly wait for day two..if this ends in a few days..no big deal..if it goes on for weeks..ill be looking for a friggin job...cause ill be deaf from all the screaming.....

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
Dude I remember the strike about nine years ago with the UAW it caused all kinds of problems, I agree those whine asses make over 100k a year to install a part on a car, what about all the techs at the dealers who make half that to fix their mistakes.

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
hey...look at that..the union and gm figured it out early this morning....looks like they are going back to work.....oh goody i may just see some parts tomorrow...for sure the next part price update will include the money gm needs to cover their ass after kissing the feet of the union..guess what...you, the consumer will pay for it through higher vehicle costs and replacement part cost....yippee

And we wonder why companies take their operations to right to work states or overseas.

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
For autos and the shipping industry the answer was yes.
The Brooklyn and New Jersey waterfront companies all moved to Virginia and Maryland.
For a time the auto industry prospered overseas but now its cheaper for them to build here than to export
because of the tarriffs we imposed on imports.

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
It only lasted a day, just long enough to disrupt part deliveries and tick off a couple customers.

Re: UAW strike hits close to home..
Sure I'll join the union, the average UAW worker under Chrysler makes about $78 an hour with their benefits, could you imagine what the labor rate would be to the customer looking to service their car.Just remember that when you complain that your next truck cost almost 40k.
