Default Death watches every step.

Man it's dark, black milk chocalate dark. The blanket of night after the ride in has your eye's crossed, defying vision. The crickets chirp in the grass along side the path to valhalla, the points of rock cutting the waves in two, creating the rips and wash that hold the Bass tight to the reefs. Sea weed waves in the current, as the water climbs and ebbs from the structure created by eons of weather, wind and cycle of moons. This place defies logic, no normal human would dare think about assaulting this location in broad daylight. Under the cover of darkness, it takes a speciasl kind of idiot. Rock hoppers crave the challenge, live for it, and dream about it.
First the wetsuit stretches on, and zipped, then the socks pulled up and over the calf. Then comes the waders. The weather is warm, sweat created, but the neoprene will save skin when and if a fall happens. Korkers go over the boot foot, and sinched tight. The wdare belt will ensure that water can't fill the legs of the boots, and the dry top doubles the protection.
The plug bag is filled with all the choices that give you the most confidence that on every splash indicating contact with the water will call a feeding Bass.
Slowly your way is made down the path that gives way to the summit of the cliff that draws near. The carbide spikes crunch as they claw the dry rock. The red lense on your head lamp allows your eyes to slowly adjust to the dark, and you can hear the surf crashing, calling you to your stage. The wind sprays a salted mist into your face, as you get closer to the place that electrifies your mind and body. You can make out the finger of rock jutting into the sea, that has your name emblazoned like neon light on it. Slowly picking your way on the snot slippery weed and slime, now covering every inch footing, you listen to the surge. Judging the cadence and size of the waves, is the most important piece of information you need. How many cycles have I read? Will I be surprised by an underestimated rogue, like times past, to find myself in the wash? Man, a smoke would be great right now, think I will. As the firefly glow of the ember gives your location away, you watch and listen. Listen and watch. I can see the point, the waves and the cycle. I know where I want to stand. I see my path. I see the rip as it forms from the outwash.

I know where the fish will be.

I think.

As a wave rides up my point and hits my legs knee high, I draw back and let fire a cast to the outside of the turn in the wash.

With a barely visible splash it lands exactly where I wanted it.

I catch the line on the roller.

I crank the handle slowly until I feel the lip of the plug catch water and make the tip of my rod jump.

There are probably a few blasts in that suit the methane keeps him floating.

Very nice gunny. You should write all this stuff in a file on your computer at home. Someday you can publish it.
