Just checking through some of my notes I have along with pictures of the bass I boated during the spring run and I noticed most of the bass I caught before the push of bait seem to be around areas with lobster pots or areas know for baby lobsters. The one or two keepers I took before June 15th had been feeding on squid and lobster.
Funny thing is I had this one place where I was taking nice fish every time I went there.. it was so hot that my son and I would go to areas we didn't know just for a chance to find another spot and if we had no luck we would head back for our fix... one day when I got home from work and pick up the paper a guy had landed a 58lb bass in the same area.. after talking to a few people he plucked it right out between these two lobster post I had been using for a marker.. the bass were feeding heavy on lobster in this area during the spring.
Cuz,
bass arnt always fussy eaters all the time.... they LOVE lobsters, back in the post WWII era ,lobster tails floated in a ground eel and menhaden slick was the bait of the day, of coarse back then lobsters could be had in every tide pool...
