Default yak fishing the ssqhna flats in april

i am an avid surf fisherman looking to catch and release some spring stripers from my new ocean kayak. i've heard hav de grace is a good launch area. are any members familar with the area? looking for other yak fishermen to show me around or learn the ropes with me. im off on sundays and mondays. my gf has a kayak too, but isn't in for the long haul of finding bass...

I know the Susquehanna Flats do hold some large spring bass from rumors I have heard in the past however I beleive the regulations for the area are pretty stringent as well. Just pay attention to those and have some fun. I personally have never fished there. Good Luck and have a good time.

thanks for the warning. im def a regulation guy. been trying to research this since dec. can anybody tell me the best place to launch a yak for c&r stripers in the next few week? ive read either perryville park in havre de grace or elk head state park. which would be best for a newbie to the area in early april?

Karl,
I believe a good place is Perry Point Park.
You can launch in Furnace Bay and it is protected from all but east and NE winds.
Check this link.

There is deep water and shallow water right across the channel very close by.

hit the flats from perry point park 2day (monday). water was very muddy with lots of debris floating around. tried soaking some fresh herring, both whole and cut with no luck. jigged some rubber eels, threw a variety of crankbaits, and even a swimbait with absolutely no hits. saw a few surface crashes around me but assumed those to be carp. talked to a few yak fisherman who reported some nice catfish action in the water around the perry point launch. talked to a boat angler who told me the water in the northeast river was much clearer and cleaner. going to launch from elk neck state park 2moro to investigate his claim...
