Best rod setup
Hey guys whats up, i am getting a new rod and reel this winter, def going with a van staal and a lami, i think i am going to get 11', just looking for some insight on which van staal will balance an 11 the best and what rod and reel combos are your guys fav

Lamiglas GSB 120-1L Blank -- Zeebaas 25rs / VS 200
Lamiglas XS 10 MS Pretty good all around rod.
Paired with above. I like a little lighter than others.
11 footer 27 / VS 250
Super surf and Arra Dont bother. IMHO
Another excellent rod is the AFAW Estuary rod. With a 704Z /706
Zeebaas 25rs / VS 200
Breakaway - awesome rods for casting bait. Light but big.
Paired with Daiwa longcasting reel

How do you guys think the Breakaway LDX would work as a long Plugging Rod it is rated in the 2-5 OZ range? I have been considering buying one to set up with a spinner I am working on.

13 feet is a bit hard to plug with IMO.
But the rod is so dam light.

I was considering it for some areas I fish in the summer where the surf gets up. This season I fished a Tica that rearranged My elbow tendons for me. Maybe I will look a little closer at some of their other rods.

I've used a lot of rod and reel setups including Lami's and VS's but my favorite by far is the AFAW Estuary with a ZB 25 - this rod does everything I ask it to from heavy pencil popping during the Jersey spring blitz's to throwing light jigs and plastic in Montauk
Outcasts every Lami I've ever owned and has enough strength down in the butt to handle the biggest bass

I have read a lot about the AFAW rods they seem very nice. Does anyone have distribution on them? I will have to run a search on them.

Thank You for the reference. I actually did a little legwork through AFAW USA's website and found Tommy Farmers website. Very Reasonable Rod as well in the Factory version. I think that may be my next rig! I have a 704 I machined and will be powder coating once my electrician gets my oven hooked up (I am my electrician) that will sit nicely on it. Thanks for the Info

I'll put in another vote for the AFAW Estuary. Definitely a kick ass rod. I have a factory built, dual rung, model and it has more than proven itself. The 704 will be great on it. I've used both a 704 & a 706z on mine, and currently have the ZeeBaas on it. They balance it nicely. The 704 & 706 feet are a little tight in the Fuji reel seat, but secure.
