Default Caught first ever striper, 32 inches dead!

I'm new to striper fishing here, just moved to NY last year and got my first ever striper. It was a 32 " fish rotten and dead. 2 firsts for me, first striper and first ever catching a dead fish. From what I'm reading and talking to local guys seems like these new regulations are not paying off. Beautiful size fish that was gut hooked and looks like it was cut off and thrown back and she didn't make it. Hate to see nice fish like this just killed. Don't know if anyone else has ever seen this, I couldn't believe I pulled in a dead fish.

Sad to say I agree. I had a gut hook on a 32 inch fish yesterday. First fish of the year using a circle hook. Unfortunately it's going to happrn. Would have loved to see that fish on a plate but rules are rules. Hopefully he's able to recover and get rid of the hook.

Did you try to revive it?!

I did that a couple times in pulaski, snagged a moldy dead salmon. They don't put up much of a fight. Then had a hard time getting the hook back without touching it.
