Default Caught my first nice stripper

I was fishing yesterday with my puppy, trying to get her use to the boat. I caught one about 20'' I then caught a little one and was like what is going on. No good bits. I moved down to across Chelsea marina and was just about to go home and then bam, I had one on the line. Here's a pic of her. Not bad for my first big one. Now I have to get out and find one bigger.

I remember when I decided to take my dog on a fishing trip. It will NEVER happen again. What a pain in the ass when you find out your dogs scared of the boat.

there are no issues whatsoever with eating them ..... even when they are in the river they are feeding on the herring which don't live in the river

What bait did you use?

Sometimes strippers will respond to dollar bills ....... but they often are more agressive when you are dangling 5's and 10's

Now lets be objective. NYS says do not eat fish even from NYC drinking water located in res. throughout the Catskills. To my knowledge they do not treat the water for pesticides, herbicides or heavy metals. Additionally, in a couple of weeks the fish will head south to NYC and go straight or turn east and nobody will have a concern about eating the fish. I think if you stay away from the belly meat, based upon data from testing at Lake Ontario you will not consume most carcinogens and it is probably safer than grapes from a third world country. Or better yet, farm raised shrimp from Asia...
