Fishing Reports up to and including Friday, June 15, 2012
Location: Block Island, Rhode Island

It's getting tough finding bass this week with plenty of three pound blues running the gauntlet. That's the story every day. The striper bite hasn't lasted long. It's still an early morning game for stripers and as the week progressed the window closed even faster. Monday, the bass bite lasted two hours, the next day only one fish, and Thursday, 10 minutes. The fog seems to diminish the appearance of sand eels kept their heads buried in the sand.

Captains Log:

Mike Testa and Dave Pollack had a good day at the Block on Monday. There were plenty of tight lines throughout the day with some nice size bass and bluefish in the mix.

Mike Testa's first trip to the Island was a success.

Dave Pollack is no stranger to the Island.

Dave and Joyce, his beautiful bride of forty years enjoyed the day out at Block Island on Tuesday. Joyce is no beginner when it comes to big game fishing. She once landed three tarpon over one hundred pounds on crabs. There were plenty of small bluefish to keep 'um busy for the day. The stripers seem to be in hiatus.

Dave Valeri consoles Joyce after losing the only striper of the morning, a nice twenty pound striper right at the boat. The line parted near the reel left all of us in dismay.

Bob Signorello returned to the area again hoping to find some bass on the ocean front.
Two times now, Bob has run into the fog out at the island. The fog just seems to slow the action of the sand eels. Plenty of small bluefish everywhere.

One inch short of Bob's personal best. Maybe next time?
