Default My new Sand Skiff,,,

,,, well, not really new. 1991 with a few aftermarkets thrown in.
Didn't know where to post the brag,, but since it's for surf fishing this fall, I figured here was a good spot(?).
Past couple of week has had me chasing all over Ct, Mass (Cape last friday night was "interesting") and R.I.
Finding something with my "cap" that wasn't rotted out, needeing seriuose work, etc. was a chore to say the least.
Anyways, here's my Sand Skiff.

Well I feel Lady Luck finally smiled on me here.
Have all the receipts that include;
Engine rebuild 1500 miles ago with the tranny and transfer gone through at the same time.
Suspension and body lift less than 6 mos. old done professionally (not a backyard thing) 5 new tires and rims less than 500 miles. Original rims and tires with 3/4 tread left. Some chrome do-dads like new. And a $1200 stereo his wife gave him for Christmas (installed profesionally(?).
This was his "Prodject Toy" always in the heated garage.
The guy just got himself a brand new huge Dodge Ram. Said it was his new love affair(?) and needed the garage for his new toy ASAP!
"$5,000 and get it out of here NOW?"
Of course I said, "DONE!"
I've anouther $1200 coming in the mail. Rock Sliders, front & rear Bumpers, Seat covers, Side mirrors, 1 rain & 1 storage cover, and the stuff to "Rust Bullet" and Tough Coat the inside of the thing. Carpets are a no-no with me and the beach.
I'm

Does have a few issues though. Like the chrome tipped exhaust needs to go! Fog lights need to move and definately need rewireing. Rag top willbe replaced for winter. May remove some of the body lift,,, maybe.
Guess it's my "Toy Project" now. Wife is happy too, the Silverado is (mostly ) her's.
Funny, sneaking this into the yard was :boobs:,,,().

There's enough "land use issues' without loud exhaust pissing off more folks. Besides, how would you hear the birds working, waves crashing, etc.?
Plus, I'd rather NOT draw attention at my age. There's a lot to be said for "Silent, but deadly".

Amen to that In my opinion the only thing on the road that SHOULD be loud is motorcycles, and that's just a safety issue. If I'm in someone's blindspot, they KNOW it.

Not to mention what I had said before, burn the valves out. Quite is better. Since we are on the topic, what beaches can you drive on, what permits do you need and where do you get them?

Default HEY JIM,, maybe we need a sand skiff forum?

Anyways, SoCo has open season with permit after Sept. 15 (this year) many, but not all SoCo is open. Right now 2 1/2 (ish) miles of East Beach is open and probably parts of Block Island and other (really not sure on that part, best to check).
Permits are issued at Burlingame Headquarters from like 8:00 an til 2:30 pm (unless it's raining). Best to have all your "ducks in a row" though, because they check everything. Insp., Reg., insurance etc.

Gunny,
On the Maine thing, (again, I'm in the air on this--- ugh). Awaiting parts to show, confidence in the jeep, and of course, how the hell do I get there from here? Looking like 8 hrs. up, 8 hrs. back. Gonna need to "crash" somewhere at my age. Working on it. Think it wouldbe easier on me to do a 3 day (minimun) thing this time, which isn't really a problem in some ways,,,, but in others, couldbe.
I'm working on it.
Will I be able to hobble back and forth to the fish this time?

8 hours? Mapquest says it's only 4 hours to Popham Beach for me, coming from New Bedford.
