I am thinking about launching from coeymans & heading south, does anyboy know how far up the STRIPER & HERRING are ?...........what is the water temp??? Good luck to all!!!!
I agree with Wife! We all kind of got hooked on this website from years back and get pumped up on where and what the guys are doing out here.
If a newbie makes a mistake and blurts out a fishing hole, just remind him that is against the forum rules because the way it seems now is that we all get punished.
nobody got punished. I just try to advise all the new comers about spot burning . and another thread was started for 2012 fishing reports. so i hope nobody has bad feelings over it. if people wanna share where they fish they can message it to each other bye message that way it is private
hey anglethedangle i thought when one if fishing for herring either with a sabik rig or netting that the best time would be during the incoming tide from low to high is that correct? i fish from the beacon area.
I also fish from the beacon area. Although the whole tide thing im not too great on, you can use your phone (If you have a smartphone) To figure out tides and such. Its just knowing when to look for them. Im gonna try tomorrow in the afternoon for herring.

I like to use this web site. I hope the link works. I have it as a bookmark in my phone(along with this site of course) so I can check it any time.
I like the tide coming in to get herring
Went fishing wensday, caught alot of cats & perch no striper or herring!! Allthough they are here. I saw plenty of herring being pulled out with nets & stooleys ...had some good hits on my herriing rig big shad were ripping the hooks off...all in all a fun day !!!!!
Fished the outgoing tide yesterday in the Coeymans/Castleton section of the river. Anchored up on the channel edges and fished with fresh chunk herrink that were caught out of the Postenkill. Fished till 1230 and ended up with 9 cats, i did have one monster run that had the bait runner screaming and the rod bent right over but what ever dropped up soon after. Water i thought was a little dark and the water temp was 50.2. Still alot of debris in the river so please use caution as some of the logs i seen today were 20+ ft long (whole trees). Either way i think its still early but it was nice to be out on the boat and giving her a good run to make sure everything works on the boat. As i was leaving they had a crew working on the second set of docks and they said they were trying to get them in by the end of the day.
From here on out i plan on hitting the river every Wednesday and Thursday and every other chance i get. Hopefully i will get back into better numbers after last years mess lol. Tight lines guys
