Default Water temp

I have heard (from people who's opinion on striper fishing I trust) that big stripers prefer water between 59 and 64 degrees. Warmer and you get small ones and blues, colder and it's slow fishing.

How important do you think the temp is?

Do you think that range is accurate?

If temp isn't right, do you move on to find the right temp?

I think the water temp is very important especially for surf fishing,
where the water is warmer at the surf has to be no hotter than 68 thats why the striper fishing is real slow now.....

I think water temp is also important, but I also think that the presence of bait will trump it in any situation. What I'm saying is, if there is bait present, there will be fish present, bottom line, especially this time of year when the bait is stacking up. I think a fish no matter what size will deal with less than ideal temps to stuff their gut full of bait. But overall I guess temp plays the biggest role as it will ultimately decide when the bait leaves...
