Default any guesses?

seemed like the run was late this year and early this year...any guesses as to when good numbers of stripers will be up around troy/albany? herring arent far off, but seems almost 2 months earlier than last year... went 2 days to early last year and only found the herring, would like that to change this year

As a general rule the good numbers show up about two weeks after the herring arrive .... then hang until after they spawn ..... so that would be two or three weeks from now.

You may want to consider going further south if the weather holds ..... two years ago it warmed early and quickly and the bulk of the fish stopped south of Albany ..... the Coeymans crew had a great season and Troy sucked all year long.

These fish are not like salmon and don't return to the exact spot where they were hatched ...... they head back to the Hudson and stop somewhere between Kingston and Troy .... it seems like when the water warms quickly they find a suitable spot further south.

I like the sound of that. You think the stripers would stop as far south as Beacon, cause that would be great. The weather really has been nice. 60-72* since friday and forecast calls for 65-70 the week. The nights have been around 45-52*.

It was interesting in 2011...the bulk of fish spawned in the Kingston area, no? I figured that Troy was the end of the line and therefore the place where all fish would end up...WRONG! But that was not a warm year was it? I'll be working a little further south and anticipating better action this time around! Tomorrow is my first effort, starting in Selkirk and working down from there...cheers y'all!
