Hi Reef! You are absolutely welcome! This is what the Gatherings are all about! Shoot an email to GunnySniper at [email protected] to get in the email loop for the details, or send me PM if there's anything I can help you out with... We'll be based at the Scusset Beach parking lot..

I always bring a couple spare set-ups, which anyone is welcome to use if needed, but you may find that your combo will do OK from the jetty, and maybe some other spots as well.

I must mention to all who are coming who have never fished the canal before... the rocks which become exposed as the tide drops are slippery. If you have korkers, bring them, as they can be invaluable when the snotty rocks are exposed.

No sneakers allowed... :)

What time are you guys going to be there Sunday? I'm thinking of meeting up with you all, provided there are still some fish left!

I went about 8:30am, The tide was super low and heading out fast towards Cape Cod Bay. I had to leave early to get some sleep before coming to work tonight so not much fishing for me - I bet the slack was nice. Hopefully next time I can hook up with everyone and actually get drunk and fish all day.

Default Where to fish on Cape Cod?

I'm heading to the Cape Wed-Friday this week. I've never fished there. Can someone give me the "intro to Cape fishing" rundown about where to go?

Will have spinning gear but prefer to flyfish, bringing waders. Staying in Barnstable.

I'm off to search the rest of the forums, I'm sure there's some good info somewhere and of course I'll ask at local tackle shops. By the way, what shop do you recommend we visit? I need a stripping basket for sure and would be good to know where to go for equipment and see where they're biting this week.

Bummed I missed the gathering this weekend, hope you all had fun and caught a lot of fish.

Dave

After seeing you late sat night my brother and I both broke off 30 pound plus fish. The blurple I got from you in Rhodie unfortunatly is now hanging in a big bassy's mouth...I give you credit though because I never felt a bass hit a plug harder...Heres is our tally.

Justin- 1 25" striper
Josh (my brother) a 26" and a 27"
Me 24" and a 26" and a rather large blue...

Its too bad that we lost the big fish we hooked into but ohwell.

i know zim took some pics of baitrunner and me with some fish...i have no idea if anyone else took any pics. i know i got 6 total between 30" and 35"..at least the few i measured. the others were roughly the same size...this was the first time i fished the canal where i couldnt land a schoolie to save my life ...but im not complaining. i kept 2 for the freezer and the rest were returned...kinda funny story..the first fish i got minutes after i pulled up friday eve around 7ish..the second cast with a 4oz crippled herring was inhaled...i still had my work clothes on and had no real intention of fishing where i was..i was just scoping the water out and saw a slot between the line-up of people so i had to cast a few times. a guy to my right was mortified when i let her go..."what are you doing...that fish was a keeper"...blah..blah blah...i made one or two more casts and left for a quiet spot to change and prepare for the night time jigging somewhere else.
