Default IGFA lines

Hi Al,

I messed up the first message and sent it to the Striper Room.

Anyway, I posted a question in the Striper Room on the topic of "What Line Should I Use."

I read you use Ande line. Is there a reason and why don't you use braid.
What are your thoughts on braid concerning IGFA requirements etc.

Thank You

I like the mono because of the stretch capability it is forgiveing. The braid is like fishing with a metal chain, Theres no room for error with it. after i fight a big fish i get rid of the mono cause it stretches out and looses its tensile strength. but it is forgiving so im much better with mono. that means my hook dont get straightened and hooks dont pull away from the lure. Ive had it happen with braid. you have to check your own preference by fishing at your best ability. my best is mono.
Now spiderwire, powerpro and fireline. i have nothing against these for methods of fishing. Another thing is i cant get them wind knots out. at night you get a knot in braid its a bitch. another advantage for me is that I know where the knots are cause theres no backing. Braid is absolutely strong. I heard the IGFA banning all treble hooks as well.
I use braid where there is structure . its good under the right circumstance.

Have to admit I use braid now in the Canal for jigging...although I am no superstar and I caught as many fish when I used mono. Also, I tried it on my 6500 abu and it seemed to work better in some situations in terms of birdnesting. Yet, my point remains: bringing in a big fish on IGFA rated mono is a superior outcome than wrenching it in on much higher rated braid.
