Default Smaller Bloodworms-Solutions/ideas for effective use?

Smaller bloodworms need a thinner hook and hook eye in order to thread them up over hook and onto line so you can fit enough on to make a decent sized bait-can anyone recommend a strong thinner wire hook suitable for the smaller bloodworms that seem to be what's available at most baitshops upstate? Maybe I'll travel down to Jack's Bait in City Island before next weekend and pick up some bigguns, but I gotta use what's available now.

Also, what do you guys think about a "hair-rig"-type approach to this issue, like carp fishermen use-a short piece of line attached to a larger hook, with the bloodworm threaded onto that-maybe a smaller hook-size 4 or so-on the end of the short line to hold bait on?

Figured the collective brainpower of this site might offer some unique approaches and points of view regarding this frustratingly common problem!
Thanks gents!

Ok so I found some Owner Cutting Point 5/0 straight shanked worm hooks-couple barbs on shank near eye, they seem as though they're strong enough, and the hook eye is small enough in diameter to thread small bloods over. If I catch anything, I'll report on their strength performance.

Hi,
I was looking at that hook online after I read your original post, but I've never fished with bloodworms, so I'd be speaking out of school. Definately let us know how it does for you!
