Screen names. Some are really odd, some are really clever, some are obvious and some are generic.
Striperjim was easy, not too clever, nor creative, pretty generic.
I've always been curious about the names fishermen (women) take, or have been given. Anyone have any stories on their member names or selections?
Some are very cool I bet. thumbsup.gif

bought my 25ft c-hawk bout 2 years ago and was looking for a name. my buddy said i had to have a "manly" name so i named it THUNDERHAWK. thats how i got it.
Pata Grande is Spanish for Bigfoot. In a former life I was an exercise rider at the racetrack. I am a little bigger than average wanna be jockey and so required larger stirrups. The grooms picked up on this and the name Pata Grande stuck. Its not a name I use in my life much, but for the purposes of this site I thought it would work.
Years ago I met a 16yr ole kid and we went Striper fishing - one day we got 16 fish and he made a comment , something like " were a real fishing force " named my boat "Reel Force" ....
When I first started working at my present company 25 years ago some of my friends also worked there, one of the guys that worked there call my name and it sounded like he was saying Zammy, Everybody else started calling me Zam or Zammy as a joke, The name stuck and people still call me Zam today (usually while joking around).. When I first got on the internet and needed a screen name I was afraid to give my real name because I didn't know much about computers and I always heard about hackers and other people that would try to steal personal info from you.. plus in some countrys Zam is a person of the earth, ground, water, since im an outdoorsman I liked the name even more
It's my boat name..........came from a Greatful Dead song.
Never had the balls to put the name on my 28' silverton with a single inboard cuz i figured i wouldn't want to have troubles docking and have people see that name on the back. Now that i am back to a 12' rowboat it is more often just ship of fool since i go alone most of the time.
I used to be called Desperado in another life, and started using that on the Usenet and in forums/e-lists. Then it became tough because others were running around. Then I started using Renegade with a sig line "Rust Never Sleeps...", especially for my pools and fantasy teams and the Internet but that nickname was very popular also. You'd be surprised how many people thought I was in the auto body or paint business!
I was on AOL for a long time in the early days and began using I Renegade since Renegade was taken. No other internet places allowed a space and I didn't want to underscore a space so I became IRENEGADE. Of course guys trolling in some rooms thought I was a female Irene Gade, and that led to some interesting messages. I'm no where near being a desperado or renegade these past few/many years, but I still relive those glory days!

In my early twenties I was 330lbs. Got a job running a shipping dock, lost 130 lbs in six months, used to carry bails on my back when the hand truck was tied up. I stepped on one of my workers foot one day, he called me a Moose, name stuck so bad that when I would be out on the road with the truck I'd call the office, say it's Randy, they'd say who? I'd say Randy, I'd get who? again. Then I'd say Moose and they'd go oh ok!
Underpar77............... I was a 2 hcp golfer until i got this "Striper Bug" dont want to play anymore.... all i think about is catching these stripers!!!!!!!!!!:4923:
I grew up a block off Jamaica Bay and pratically lived at Canarsie Pier. My dad had this old solid glass rod with the wood butt handle and metal ferrule reel seat(older than his original Harnells). It was his all around go to rod, he caught everything on it. He called it his "CANARSIE SPECIAL".
That was the rod I caught my first Striper on, night fishing at around age 5.
I recently took that rod out of the fishing graveyard and refinished it. Dad was really taken by it.
That is some story Carnarsie, it's one for your kids when they catch their first striper!
I love this thread and all the stories! There's a bunch of interesting and diverse backgrounds here!
This is a good thread. My name Fishmaster0 came from a movie and I am drawing a blank now and can't remember the movie. but the characters name was jizmaster0 and he was a porn star. So I changed it up a bit. If anyone remembers the movie let me know
