Default Wells Striper Fishing

Hi Guys,

New to the Maine forum as I usually do my fishing in Massachusetts. I will be spending some weekends in Wells over the summer and I am new to these waters. I will have by boat in the area come July 1, but until then plan to fish the surf.

Any good spots you guys can reccommend? I have eyeballed the Jetties at Wells harbor/Drakes Island. Would you suggest this spot? If so, what is usually successful? Plastics, clams, eels at night?

Lastly, what has Maine settled on for the Striper regulations this year? I can find plenty of info from past years, but with the new conservation efforts along the eastern seaboard, I am a little in the dark as to what maine decided. Any help you all can recommend would be greatly appreciated. Tight Lines!

New regs are 1 fish @28" per angler per day. Try sand worms, have had great luck with them

I have had good luck in that area using sea worms . Also try mouth of Mousam River at Parsons beach, little north of Drakes Island

We have been getting them off the beaches in that same area as well. They are here and it's only going to get better in the coming days.
