Default nyack or piermont in May??? need suggestions

I was thinking of bringing the kids fishing on Saturday may 10. i was going to take a ride to piermont pier or Nyack beach state park.I have never been there....is it worth taking the ride up there, (over an hour with 3 kids) at this time of year or have all the fish headed further north? or should I just go to local SI spots which are about 5 minutes from my house.............any suggestions fellas??

THEY ARE HITTING PRETTY GOOD AROUND PIERMONT AND THE TZ BRIDGE. I STRONGLY SUGGEST CALLING BIG BOB AND TALKING TO HIM. HE HAS BEEN FISHING THE WATERS ALMOST AS LONG AS I HAVE BEEN ALIVE AND LOVES TO SHARE HIS SECRETS.BOB HAS ALL THE BAIT YOU WILL NEED AT HIS SHOP INCLUDING BUNKER AN HERRING CAUGHT DAILY IN HIS NETS UNDER THE TZ BRIDGE. TELL HIM WRENCHER SENT YA, GREAT GUY. IF YOU DO CHOOSE TO GO TO HIS PLACE, LET ME KNOW, I'LL POST A PICK OF HIS SHOP,HE WORKS OUT OF A GARAGE IN BACK AND HAS NO POSTED SIGNS.

Poison Ivy + Kids = Mother kicks Dads ass!!

Will ask Bob also but

But Im all ears I just need good spot in that area between the pier and Nyack beach where I can comfortably set up a few chairs, hopefully not too crowded or far from the car and fish with the kids!! even if they catch a few catfish they will be happy.... no poison ivy!! LOL!!!
Thanks

another 15 minutes north from bobs. i'll PM you the directions. the train tracks are 10 feet from the water edge, so it's a little rough if you're not used to it, but not too bad. a friend said they are hitting good right now.
