Those of you who do chunk or liveline bait...any opinions as to what lb test to use, mono or braid, what kind of leader, etc.
-Thanks Colin

I chunked for stripers last season, but only once or twice, I much prefer trolling.

I did pretty good though using 12-15 pound main line, 20-30 pound leader, fishfinder setup, cajun line for the leader (red disappears after a few feet in water due to its color), 5/0 or 6/0 circle hooks, with a 2 1/2 ounce pyramid on the fishdiner.

Braids too expensive for me, I always use mono except in certain circumstances. Shakespeare supreme is my favorite (main line), very smooth, stren (variety of diff types) is awesome too. I hate fireline for chunking, too small and expensive, and any lines tangles are impossible to fix.

I always use fresh bunker (alewive or menhaden), and put the heads on my bigger setups. Fresh bunker I think works best for bait.
