Default Great night of fishing.

Last nights fishing adventure was great. Got to fish the merrimack river with you know who......roccus! Also along for the trip was one of my best friends Tim. Fished the incoming and outgoing tides for a few hours. Picked up several great fish. Lost count of the number of fish we caught. Most fish were about 20 lbs. Roccus has some great pics he'll post on here tomorrow. Was definitely a pleasure to fish with such a great guy. Fished until the wind drove us back in at about midnight.

Sounds like you had a great time. I'm going to try to get into the river tomorrow morning. Probably put in at Cashmans about 6. Marine weather is predicting 3-5 foot seas, so I probably won't get out to jig up some mackerel, and live line. I'll start with mackerel chunks and drift the mouth for a while. If I don't see action, I'll start working up river, with a stop at Joppa, and continue up river until about 11 or 12. High tide is 11.08AM.

I was out last Friday moring trying to find cod and haddock. Started fishing the 140 foot deep water around Speckle Apron and then worked a few spots about 1-2 miles NE. Hit spots at 150, 160 and then 200 feet. At the farthest point, I was 7 miles from the mouth. I didn't do very good and only picked up one Haddock at my first stop. I did jig up some mackerel and headed back into the river, at about noon, to find an absolute zoo at the mouth. Boats everywhere, and it was a mess. People running over lines and others anchored right in my drift path. So, this week I took Thursday off and will try for striper.

Great to meet new people, the best advantage of the wind was the lack of boats, it was just too miserable for most...And during it's brief respite, the midgies went into attack mode!

I appologize in advance for the bloody fish photo, the hook penatrated her gill and she was was pumping blood big time, she was part of a double and was going in the box for the grill anyway...

Here's the pics, glad you guys had fun...

Yeah i would agree, opportunity of a lifetime to say the least. Ya know, the fishing like i said was great. But it's really the host that made it the best. I woulda had a good time even if I hadn't got big fish. It was nice to just meet a guy that shares the same interests and passions as I do.

I got to fish with him once in Sandy Hook. Great time. we froze our asses off. Zimno and Sudsy comparing notes. Ed White was high hook with 2 skates and a 14 inch bass. Met Joe Jr. One of my favorite memories fishing.
