Default Are Fresh Prawns Good Striper Bait?

Thinking about experiementing with fresh dead prawns to see if I get stripers and kingfish to bite. Any word? I usually buy clams (out of the shell) from the bait shop but looking for a better and cheaper bait.

Thanks!

small stripers and kingfish perhaps.
thing is, if you are using a low percentage type of bait you are gonna continue to get a low percentage outcome. anything you put on a hook is potential food no matter what it is. the prevalent bait in the area you fish is what you should always be either aquiring or buying "should you be fishing with bait that is"
