Great reports doc.

That was a good size blue. I like eating them better than striper if take you care to clean them and cook them right.

The fluke are great eating too.

Yes...that Blue was 15 lbs...but I absolutely detest them...their blood stains the deck and its almost impossible to get it out so I have a rule...no blue crosses the gunnels.....we gaff em....remove the hook...Bogo em for a weight....without ever bringing them on board....LOL.

We took a break from Striper fishing and hit the Tuna this past weekend.......and we scored. I had the opportunity to reel in a Tuna the same weight as me and it was a chore. I even got a nice White Marlin.

85 miles offshore in Atlantis Canyon/Fish Tales. We were trolling squid umbrella rigs and Ballyhoo.

Default Re: 2019 STRIPER REPORTs

A tough weekend but we managed to put 9 nice Striper in the boat despite everything that worked against us......Radar failure when we needed it most in the Fog....Bow light failure...Navigation light dimming...hitting the prop leaving the launch and bending it....an alarm on brand new motors (not sure what that was)....fresh water tank running out of water (hopefully we didn't fill it as opposed to a leak).......windshield wiper starting to crap out.......and most of out eels dying because we drowned them in the livewell (bass still like dead eels but not like live ones). Yes..the Fog that rolled in Thursday night was insane...wet with a visibility to about the front of the boat and everything got wet...might has well been raining the mist was so bad. The radar saved our ass then but then just died the next day. It was not safe to get back home so we stuck it out in areas we knew were safe away from all other boats....although still nerve racking to hear a boat motoring and not know where it is. Anyway...we managed to find some real nice bass up to 50 inches. We also crushed the Bluefish and Monster Seabass. The life in the water at night was incredible......thick schools of squid so we could them...Blues chasing the squid...schools of baby mackerel...flying fish mating.....sand eels....Dog fish.....a shark circling the boat checking us out...a tired bird landing on the boat and spending the night with us (cute little guy). Overall...a great experience but now I have work to do to get ready for next week.

We started out on a Charter with the Big Game Crew on Thursday nite and it was tough with the waves but we managed to catch some decent fish. We finally got back out Friday night and the fishing was good with plenty of hungry large fish. We ended the afternoon Sunday by getting circled by a 12 foot Tiger shark while pulling in some seabass.

We had another great weekend fishing and caught some large cows. I've got my best of the year so far with a 52.5"/ 50lb cow. Persistence pays off. It was also waaaaay cooler on the ocean than last for this heat wave....perfect place to be. The Weather was perfect and other than some waves Friday night it was quite calm.

We had another epic weekend with 33 fish up to 50 inches and seas like glass for once with an insane bite. We will be back out again this weekend. Rachel and Aaron both set their personal best records too....a great birthday present for them.

Default Re: 2019 STRIPER REPORTs

This past weekend was nothing short of an epic bass trip with 59 Stripers hitting the deck up to 50 inches. The number of bass feeding was unreal...there were even blitzes where they smashed our eels right between the boat motors at the surface on the way in. The amount of life on the sea was incredible with a Humpback whale showing us its tale...dozens of Porpoise swimming against the am sunrise and Tuna busting the surface. This weekend will go down as one for the books to remember forever....lots of double and triples. We even got a nice 43.5in tagged Striper.

Default Re: 2019 STRIPER REPORTs

Just when I thought last week was an epic Striper trip this week comes and blows it away. There is a reason I take off to fish every year around August 20th...that's because this is when the big Cows move in and this year was no exception. We fished hard and ended up with 200 Striper hitting the deck with 12 fish 50 inches or bigger and some up to 55 lbs. My scale is not so great so some of those may have been closer to 60 lbs. Every Striper was safely released. My crew put in hard work and the water was nice and calm. The fog was a pain until Monday night but we managed. Double and Triples were the norm. My crew did a hell of a job keeping things from becoming a mess. Personal Bests also hit the deck all weekend.......We did suffer one casualty......my absolute favorite Crafty One Custom Rod shattered.....oh well.
