Default The Official Lake Seminole/Talquin report thread!!

Hello,

I went out on the flint in bainbridge sunday and I saw a bunch of Shad feeding on the surface or atleast I thouhgt it was shad. I mean there were hundreds of bait jumping out of the water jsut before sunset but no bass around. Right now the current surface temp for lake nole is 67 degs.

I've fished the jim woodruff dam tailwater at seminole last spring and it was it was really good but that was during the spawning run so I'm guessing that the fall fishing isn't quite that frenzied. in other words I'm new to fall striper fishing

anyway, gettign to te point, anyone getting into some Striper/hybrid action on lake seminole or talquin please post a report here. post about anything: fish, water temps, weather, shad or what ever.

Remember to use your head on the water and
Richard

January and February
Striped Bass:
Lake Talquin
If not the best striped bass fishery in Florida, Lake Talquin is certainly one of the top three. And February is a great month to sample it.
Concentrate your efforts in the lower half of the lake, near the dam. During midday hours, seek stripers along the first significant drop from the shoreline in 6 to 9 feet of water. Early and late in the day, or all day, if it's heavily overcast, the linesiders move up onto shallow finger bars and points, in as little as 3 feet of water.
A number of lures take them, but a 5-inch white curly-tailed plastic grub on a 1/4- to 3/16-ounce jighead is one of the deadliest. Ten- to 15-fish days are not at all uncommon, and the fish average 6 to 12 pounds -- with 20-pound fish being taken every year.
