Default Striped bass are pawns in water games

From the Stockton Record (California)

Striped bass are pawns in water games

Since 1879, when striped bass were introduced into the Delta from the East Coast, stripers and Chinook salmon coexisted so well that their numbers expanded into the millions of adult-sized fish. That is until 1999, when excessive water exports to Southern California set the Delta's ecology on its ear and caused severe declines in many species - Delta smelt, sturgeon, steelhead and American shad - in addition to the collapse of stripers and salmon.

Now, in a brazen move by the Coalition for a Sustainable Delta, striped bass have been made into pawns at the center of a $1.5 million lawsuit against the Department of Fish and Game. The coalition isn't made of Delta interests as the name implies. Instead, it represents mega water barons - billionaire businessmen and the Westside Water District, among others - who are blaming striped bass for the predating on endangered species.

Well I hope we can count on our east coast fellow fishermen to assist with letters to the Calif Fish & game in oppisition to ther new striper Regs..They have listened to the sothern Calif water barons, that the real problems with the salmon shortage is predidation by our stripers causing a complete colapse of our salmon,Delta smelt & other fish...This is a smoke screen by the water grabbers down south in hopes that when our bass are gone, then so will our oppisition to the real problem, which is loss of water & pumps sucking our bass , salmon, Shad & others down the canal to specific growers to improve their waste land property into money making businesses...And this is being done at our fishery & delta expense...They've been getting away with it for decades..Their campaign funds keep certain politicians in office..Resnick is the main grower domn south...God knows how much money he's made at our expense..He has lawers & politicians in his pocket..Now they are trying to eridicate our bass, & unless we get tons of mail in oppisition the the new regs, which are voted on Feb 1, 2012,Then our fishery is doomed. We have to work together on these issues to succeed..We have sent letters to Mass in the fight to get stripers as a Gamefish & recently on the menhaden take reduction...Which I'm extremly happy to see did pass...Thats a first...We appreciate your east coast fishery & will always speak out on inviramental issues concerning them...I'm hoping we can count on your members to assist at this issue before Feb ! ,2012...All the arguments are on Dan Blantons Fly Fishing forums & also Stripers on Line West coast...I'm hoping for your assistance....Your west coast friend , Gregorjim mancuso Following is address to DFG = Mr Jim Kellogg President, California Fish & Game Commission.....P.O. Box 944209 Sacramento , Ca 94244-2090 We need your help....Thanks
