Default Merrimack River Action? / Cashman Park Docks

I spoke with the Harbormaster this afternoon. The Cashman Park docks are coming out next Tuesday (11/06). He said that hardly any boats are launching these days so he thinks that only schoolies are left and that the big stripers have left for the winter.

I was thinking about trying the river Fri. or Sat. because there will be big waves on the shore. What's the striper action in the river? Is it worth driving 1/2 hour to launch at Cashman Park and fish the river?

Sandy

This time of year is hit or miss, there are still lots of little fish from micros to about 20"... it is possible to take fish(big) right through Thanksgiving, but any action usually is limited to the river mouth or the beach front, I've done well as late as Thanksgiving running a jig or large swimming plug in the badgers at the start of the outgoing, this time of year, the fish rarely go above the badgers and seem to flash in for one tide....It's alot of cold work for little reward. Good luck.

Roccus,

Thank you very much for the info. I am a newcomer to this forum, but have learned that if anyone knows what's happening or what may happen in the Merrimack, it has got to be you. You have caught many outstanding stripers and other fish.

Unfortunately, the weather this weekend is going to put a big damper on the fishing activity.
