Default FlatFish lure for striper?

So I gave up fighting the jones to fish last week by getting myself a fresh water lic. I have not been freshwater in ages, so it was all new to me. My trusted advisor at the tackle shop put me onto a flatfish lure, and I have to say the thing is definately productive; I banged out a few trout and pickrel in no time. So my question is this... why have I not see a bigger version of this in saltwater?? I have to imagine the heavy wobble at slow speeds would drive bass nuts, especially early in the season when the temps are way down, or in slow moving current. Anyone every use these for stiper? If so, how were the results?

The T60 flat fish is 6"s long that is a pretty large lure.Never tried it for stripers but big pike eat it up.VT

Guess I'll have to do some experimenting, I'm looking for the t-60's now. local shops don't seem to have them so I guess I'll pick one up online.

flat fish work well for stripers, the problem is with the presentation.... casting a flatfish is difficult, as anyone that has fished a flat fish knows, the slower the better, in an ocean or tidal river, getting the flat fish to troll slow enough can create problems... but they do work....

another fresh water lure that excells for stripers is the J plug...., back when I fished a umbrella rig, the J plug was the best trailer money could buy...

Great Lakes Salmon like flatfish and J-Plug lures, trolled slow. Most come with bronze hooks and they won't last long in saltwater.

If you are ordering them, check and see what kind of hooks are available for them.

I ordered a pair of the t-55's to try out. I'll swap out the hooks for some saltwater versions.
