New Georgia boy- Freshwater river advice
Hello to all,
New to striper fishing but I understand they catch quite a few in the fall particularly Dec/Jan. I have read that these fish are here year round and they are not the migratory ocean striper. I prefer artificials but have nothing against live bait fishing. I am in the lower Savannah river in the area where I95 crosses near Savannah, Ga. I have many questions and I know you fellows are the experts. #1. What to look for as far as water goes. Depth, current, eddies? Why is winter months when most fish are caught? What would be the preferred artificial in lures and soft baits? The area I fish has a 2 fish limit with a minimum length of 27 inches so to catch a keeper would be a thrill but catch and release is fine with me. I can catch plenty of blue gills/ redbreast and catfish to eat. Thanks in advance for your advice and hope to post pictures soon.
