Can you vent a spraybooth to charcoal filter and back into the room???
Using and airbrush and Createx paint - do you think you could vent a spray booth through a dryer hose to a pipe filled with something like aquarium filter charcoal and let that vent out into the room or would you just poison yourself and the house?
I am thinking about a pipe the same diameter as the dryer hose. How long do you think the charcoal filled pipe should be?
I hate the thought of pumping warm air out into the Vermont winter and what that will do to the heating bill.
Santa is bringing me an airbrush and that got the wheels a turning.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Absolutly... you can buy combination charcoal/particulate media at Lowes or Home depot, I have my set up rigged to go outside or recycle, when I spray lacquer or primer, I vent it to the outside, when I spray water based acrylics, I close the outside blast gate and open the return into the room...

Here is one i built for myself took me a day to build.
I added some axial motors to the spraybooth and added a toggle switch that turns it on and also lights it up at the same time.I made it modular so i can remove and replace if needed in the future.Great thing about these axial motors is they don't use brushes and they are perfect for this application.

I hate machinists, everything they make is completely beyond the ability of mere mortals
OK then - Lexon or Plexi ? and how did you stick it together ?
rclark12 - We do it for two reasons, you never want to breathe in any of this stuff if you can help it, and if you don't vent it, over time the spray particles in the air settle to form a dirty dust over everything in the room.

Re: Can you vent a spraybooth to charcoal filter and back into the room???
I had a sheet of plexiglas at work so thats what i used now they have lexan which if you were to build one would be better.I used a special gel glue that welds plexi , lexan together almost instantely cheap $ for a tube and once the two pieces contact each other it truly welds it together its amazing. The cost it whatever it cost for a 4 x 8 sheet of plexi/lexan you will not use it all and have alot left over but probably cheaper than buying a bunch of small pieces and the motors can be had for as little as $10.00/$25.00 a piece if you know were to look so bottom line not to much $$ just a day to make it.
